Welcome to our new adventures in Alaska! Yes, we made the trek back to our offgrid life that had been calling to us.
The move up was not horrid once we were able to navigate the logistical nightmare of shipping, ferries, flying, customs crossings, and traveling with three massive dogs and four cats. Once we did arrive at the lodge we had booked, it took a five-day expedition to find our new remote cabin in the woods that included moose, bears, ATV breakdowns, and much time spent winching out of the Alaska mud as we searched. We did find it and arranged to have our basic belongings barged across Lake Louise to our trail head. From there it’s just a matter of building foundations, learning this new normal, and getting back to the basics of life. Gardening, hunting, foraging, fishing are staples in our life these days along with many relaxing hours looking at the ‘screensaver’ out the front door.
