Hello Homesteaders!
It is July in north Texas and it is hot. Over 100° and 70% humidity makes for a nasty heat category as we push to get the roof trusses into place on mom’s house build. The driving focus is to NOT burn myself to a crisp or fall off the roof in heat stroke, that’s all my brain is processing right now. Luckily the Army taught us how to get it done; wrap wet towels around your head and neck, take breaks often, drink copious amounts of water and electrolytes, maybe change your socks.. you’ll be OK… even if you do think you have fallen into Hades barbecue pit and are being slowly roasted. It took about a week to get the roofing framework in place; it was not easy work, probably the hardest part of this build to date. BUT, it is DONE!! All jokes aside this was a big hurdle for us. We’ve never done a roof this big before and the math was run numerous times to get the proper angles. Our first two trusses did not fit as we wanted and we were forced to scrap two designs before going simple. Going to give hubby a nice steak dinner for his efforts.

Keep being amazing in your own ways. Stay cool out there and check back next month for more updates!
