Hello Homesteaders!
Welcome to February! Nothing horrid happened in the last month so we have hope for a good 2021. Who else is ready for that Valentine candy to go on sale? I know I am!
All of our puppies have found homes and headed out to start lives of their own leaving us with a much quieter house. Every pup was over 15 pounds when they left us, going to be some huge dogs out there in a year or so. We are trying to catch up on our sleep, you don’t realize how much energy goes into raising ten mastiff puppies.

We’re moving a lot of hay this month. Our feed store had Arizona alfalfa ay $21 per BALE, which is a steal here, so we bought as many as they would let us. On top of that our round bale provider cut us a nice deal on four big, 1,200 pound, round bales for $30 each. So we have plenty of forage for our lambs to wean onto of which many have already started. As we said previously there will be some culling this year, now starts the process of deciding who stays and who needs to go to freezer camp. We have found a Tunis breeder just ten miles from us and intend to purchase two new rams come Spring to bolster our lines.

That’s all for this month, see you guys for more homestead fun next month!
