Hello Homesteaders!

I know this month’s post is coming a bit late but December is always a busy month with family time. We are doing a lot of video chatting with family instead of seeing them in person. Most are still self quarantined for the sake of their jobs, making them happy to use this form of visitation. As always we hope everyone is staying safe and healthy out there.

We have ten beautiful Doubull Mastiff puppies that are just starting to see the world for the first time through hazy eyes. They’ve started crawling around a bit and attempting first steps. We should have them weaned off and onto soft foods in the next week or so. Trixie is a great mom but when they get teeth pushing through it’s someone else’s turn to feed them. We are very excited about having a healthy litter on the ground.

The sheep are definitely a bit further along than we imagined and are showing milk on a few ewes. We didn’t expect this for another month at least so we are scrambling to get ready. Muck the juke, refresh the bedding everywhere, get lambing kit ready, check gates and fences… I need more hours in the day!

What’s next? When the weather becomes nice again we will resume work on the house for Heather’s mother. Some assistance may be needed but it will get done. Until next time… stay safe and be healthy.
